Exercise? Oh, I thought you said extra fries.

I mean would anyone actually choose fries over working out?
I didn’t think so.
There are many people in this world that go to restaurants and find the healthiest option on the menu to have. I am kind of like that, if I can’t find something I am dying to have I just order a giant spinach salad with a LARGE order of fries on the side. With ranch. Never forget the ranch.
Because I can’t be trusted with a fryer…long story, but let’s just say the only time I have tried my old apartment smelled like vegetable oil for weeks. So now, if I am craving fries, I make a large batch of the extra crispy oven baked version.
They don’t leave your hands oily, they taste delicious and best of all, no frying required!
With the weekend quickly approaching, I feel like it is time to finally share my extra crispy oven baked french fries recipe with you all.
The key to a good oven baked fry is to make sure that you don’t cut your fries in several different sizes. Try your best to cut them all the same thickness to help them bake more evenly in the oven.
After you have soaked your potatoes & let them air dry, make sure you toss them in olive oil, salt & pepper to season them!
Embrace the burnt edges, they add to the crispiness!
These extra crispy oven baked fries will not disappoint. You will not only eat them all in one sitting but you will be craving them for days after as well!
Can you think of better way to celebrate the weekend AFTER memorial day other than devouring endless amounts of extra crispy fries? I didn’t think so.
ENJOY!

- 1 potato, russet
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- parchment paper
- small bowl
- baking sheet
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
-
Rinse & peel potato. After it is peeled, cut off the edges & cut into 1/4 inch slices. *try not to make them as even as possible or they will cook unevenly
-
Into small bowl add "fries", cover in cold water & let sit for 30 minutes.
-
Once finished soaking, place fries onto paper towels and pat dry removing all excess water.
-
When dry, add fries back into small bowl. Add olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss until all fries are coated.
-
Add parchment paper to your baking dish & then add your fries. Do not crowd them, try your best to line them up so they do not overlap.
-
Bake in oven for 30 minutes. Flip fries about half way through to make sure cook evenly on all sides.
-
Remove from oven when fries are cooked. Add a little more salt for taste & serve immediately. ENJOY!
