(These Fruit Sparklers are) Brought to your courtesy of the red, white & blue.”
-Toby Keith
I am not sure that is exactly how the lyrics went, but close enough.
It may just be me but holiday weekends are always FILLED with calories on calories on calories. I love every second of it but sometimes you need to add something a little healthy to counter balance the hot dogs, hamburgers & bushwackers.
Because my favorite part of the 4th of July is the fireworks, I decided to make firework inspired fruit “sparklers” for a party snack this year!
These sparklers were so easy to make & they are a cute appetizer for any 4th of July get together.
The hardest part of this recipe is cutting the watermelon into cute stars. I found my star cookie cutter here!
Get creative with your fruit sparklers!
This recipe is fun to make because you can get creative with how you design your fruit sparklers. You can put the strawberries & bananas first then the blueberries or intermix all of them.
However you celebrate this holiday, just make sure you wear your colors proudly & eat all the delicious food you can consume! If you don’t wake up on the 5th with a food baby, you are doing something wrong.
ENJOY!

- 8 strawberries, large
- 2 banana, large
- 1/4 watermelon, cut into 2 thick slices
- 1/4 cup blueberries
-
Cut bananas into thick slices. Remove tops & cut strawberries into halves.
-
Taking a star-shaped cookie cutter, cut 4 stars out of watermelon.
-
Using skewers, begin to assemble fruit with the blueberries first. Slide 4 blueberries onto top of skewer. Leave about an inch worth of room from the top.
-
Next, coming from the bottom, slide 1 strawberry half & 1 banana slice onto skewer. Repeat 3 times.
-
Finally add your watermelon star to the top of the skewer above the blueberries. Serve and enjoy!
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
- To keep fruit fresh, you can squeeze a little lemon juice on top
