Boozy Maple Whiskey Buttercream Frosting

Fortunately, all it takes for us to be one mind is some buttercream frosting.

-Jen Lancaster

What is better than regular buttercream frosting? Boozy maple whiskey buttercream of course!

My motto is “when life gives you drunken frosting, eat as much as you can before the sugar high hits”…okay so that may not be my real motto but I like the thought.

As we grow up birthdays don’t become as exciting to celebrate so why not give ourselves a little tasty excitement while we are young? The best part about this boozy buttercream frosting is that you can do so many things with it once you get the base down. You can subtract the whiskey & maple syrup to get the best vanilla buttercream you’ve ever tasted. There is also the option to substitute the whiskey for vodka, gin, tequila, etc to make different flavors of alcoholic buttercream!

The key to a fluffy buttercream frosting is the butter. You want to make sure that you give your butter time to soften before you begin to whip it into perfection. Here is a quick tip on how to do that:

Place your butter underneath a pint glass/tall glass cup & let it sit there while you prep the rest of your dish.

This will help the butter speed up the softening process naturally without having to microwave it & potentially melt your butter too much.

Look at that buttercream perfection.

A quick side note: you WILL be able to smell the alcohol. Don’t be afraid though, while it will smell strong, you haven’t added enough to truly get someone drunk off the frosting.

I used this specific frosting to make my Maple Bacon Whiskey Cupcakes (which I will be sharing Thursday) & I got so many compliments to how delicious the frosting tasted. It is not overly sugary & has the perfect hint of alcohol to make it sinfully delicious!

ENJOY!

But, but…that’s not maple syrup in the picture – ?? Otherwise this looks great, thanks for the recipe.

    • Ahh you’re completely right! I made two batches of these & the first time used syrup, I just have switched the pictures when posting! Thanks for the catch!

I made this frosting last night and it tasted amazing. I made it just like the recipe said… however, it was extremely runny. Any tips for a thick frosting next time? Thanks so much!

    • I haven’t made this yet, but since it’s a butter base, all you probably have to do is put your frosting in the fridge for a bit. It was probably hot in your kitchen?
