Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket

A hot dog at the game, beats roast beef at the Ritz.

-Humphrey Bogart

You can’t watch the Super Bowl (or any national sporting event) without having at least one party food. Even if you are watching solo, it isn’t the same without some sort of festive food present.

This year I decided to turn my go to party snack (pigs in a blanket) into a sophisticated appetizer by adding a chic seasoning that is very in right now, Everything Bagel Seasoning.

Seriously, you can put the seasoning on anything and your food becomes a fancier version of its original self.

All kidding aside…these Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket are the perfect last minute appetizer because the prep time is less than 10 minutes. You can pop them in the oven right before your guests arrive and no one will ever know how little time you spend making them.

How to make your new favorite fancy Pigs in a Blanket:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

While the oven preheats, remove your hot dogs from their package and slice each dog into 3 pieces.

Next open your can of crescent rolls and break them apart into 8 triangles.

Using either a knife or pizza cutter, slice each roll into 3 smaller triangles (you want 24 in total).

Place a hot dog at the widest end of your crescent roll. Roll the dough tightly around the hot dog.

When your pigs are in their blankets, place them onto a non-stick baking sheet.

Sprinkle your Everything Bagel Seasoning onto each roll. Then gently press the seasoning on with your fingers to ensure it won’t fall off during the baking process.

Pop your Pigs in a Blankets into the oven and cook them for 12-15 minutes until they are a nice toasty brown color.

Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes.

You have a few choices on how you want to serve your Pigs in a Blanket:

  1. Serve with the standards, aka ketchup and mustard.
  2. Make a quick beer cheese dip and allow guests to dip them into a pool of cheese before consuming.
  3. Last but not least, make my super simple Skinny Honey Mustard! (It pairs perfectly with the EB seasoning!)

When I made a batch of the Pigs in a Blanket (for testing purposes obviously), I seriously couldn’t stop eating them!

The Everything Bagel seasoning adds an unreal flavor to them that takes them to the next level and pairing them with my Skinny Honey Mustard added the perfect kick.

When I make them again for Super Bowl Sunday I will do my best to save some for our friends…hopefully we don’t eat them all before they show up!

ENJOY!
