If there is anything I like better than honey and ketchup, it’s baloney and whipped cream — and we don’t have any!
-Moe Howard
You should never be in a situation where you need whipped cream and don’t have any…mainly for the sheer fact that it takes all of 5 minutes to make and you more than likely have all of the ingredients on hand already!
Raise your hand if you are guilty of sticking your finger in a fresh tub of Cool-Whip when it is in front of you? …Nobody…just me? Okay cool.
Well I won’t be embarrassed because I LOVE the stuff. In college I used to freeze my whipped cream and then eat it while watching a movie like ice cream. In my mind it was half the calories & basically tasted the same.
Now that I have shared what a psycho I am, why don’t I share with you my simple 5 minute recipe for Homemade Vanilla Whipped Cream. You will never want to buy store bought again once you realize how easy it is to make!
How to make Homemade Whipped Cream:
You will only need FOUR total things to make this recipe-
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- A really cold bowl
First, 10 minutes before you are ready to make your WC, place your stand mixer bowl into the freezer. No really, do it, it helps make the cream cool & whips into perfection.
Next, add your whipping cream, sugar and vanilla extract into the bowl.
Beat your ingredients together on the 2nd to highest speed your mixer has for 1-2 minutes until soft peaks form.
BAKING TIP: DO NOT over mix your whipped cream, it will turn into a thick butter like texture that doesn’t taste nearly as good as the consistency you are going for. Once you see soft peaks, it is time to stop mixing!
If you are decorating a dessert, like my GF Mini Angel Food Cakes, add the whipped cream to a piping bag.
PRO TIP: If you don’t own piping bags you could also add the WC to a large zip lock bag and cut off one of the corners to create the same effect.
Gently layer the whipped cream into your desired design, serve & enjoy!
I used 2 different “icing tips” to show different ways you can style your homemade vanilla whipped cream, but my rule of thumb is: no matter how it gets on the desired dessert, it won’t be there for long because it is too delicious not to eat in seconds!
ENJOY!

- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tbsp sugar, granulated
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
-
Into stand mixer/ bowl add whipping cream, sugar and vanilla.
-

*DO NOT over beat the cream or it will turn to butter.
If you like a thicker whipped cream beat on high for 2-3 minutes. For a lighter whipped cream beat for 1-2 minutes.
