I’ll have my drink at the pool; I’m nobody’s fool.
Happy (almost) Memorial Day Friends!
It is officially my favorite time of the year…it is just warm enough to walk the dogs daily and sit in my car in between calls without feeling like I am going to turn into a pool of sweat. It really doesn’t get better than the time of year between May and June!
Because pools will begin opening this weekend to celebrate the holiday & kick off the summer, I couldn’t think of a better thing to share than a pool side drink!
The two biggest problems I have when I go to a pool/beach is that: 1) I feel awful after day drinking in the sun or 2) the drink is satisfying but I leave feeling bloated.
This year, I decided to solve these problems with the perfect poolside drink, the Skinny Beach!
The name alone is a reason to make this fun cocktail, but there are a few other benefits that come with it as well. It is hydrating, light & gives you just enough of a boozy buzz to enjoy day drinking without making you feel awful when you leave. You can thank me later for introducing you to your new favorite summer drink, but until then, let’s talk about how to make it!
How to make The Skinny Beach:
To make this incredibly simple, yet perfect pool drink you need 5 ingredients-
- Grapefruit Flavored Sparkling Water (my favorite is Pink Grapefruit by Ice)
- A lime, juiced
- A grapefruit, halved & juiced
That is it, 5 ingredients is all that is needed to make this refreshing & boozy drink!
To make it simply grab a cocktail shaker & add in 1/4 cup of vodka.
Next juice 1 lime & add it to the shaker.
Next add about 1/2 – 3/4 of the sparkling water into the shaker.
And finally, add the juice of 1/2 of a grapefruit.
Top your shaker & mix for a few seconds.
Toss about 1/2 cup worth of ice into your cup & pour your Skinny Beach cocktail over the ice.
Garnish with a lime wedge & grapefruit wedge, serve & enjoy!
The key to day drinking/drinking by the pool or beach, is to hydrate while you dehydrate. There are few drinks that will give you both, but the Skinny Beach does just that!
Whether you are drinking it this Memorial Day weekend or at the beach this summer, enjoy!
